LEGO STAR WARS 'THE PADAWAN'S SAGA'

OUTSIDER gave me a call on receiving a script from Our Lego Agency, the internal creative arm of the LEGO group for gifted Director Edward Andrews. Edward's background in VFX (many years as a compositor with DNEG) combined with his surreal storytelling and talents for extracting magic and a childlike wonder in his films meant he was perfect for this project.

The film was achieved through meticulously considered camera work, programmed through a motion control rig with the technicians at MRMC. Edward, Production Designer Dan Betteridge, the talented team at MRMC and I created a 30 second sequence based on complex pre-vis developed in close collaboration with GABHA Studios, with every element of the set's measurements needing to be correct to the millimetre and using a Opted Excellence Boroscope lens to thread through the eye of a needle as we moved around the giant table top diorama we created.

We took over the whole of Stage 3 at Park Royal Studios, building our set around the BOLT camera system, before finely tuning the landscapes and sets to the finest detail.
